I was hoping for more practical tips in this book. Unfortunately my impression was of "the perfect family" lecturing the rest of us. Lots of scripture verses, lots of stories illustrating what a good relationship this family has, but I didn't feel that my kids (or I) were able to make the practical application after reading this. (We read it aloud as a family.)
This book is fantastic! It is written by a set of siblings. I think at the time they wrote it the oldest was twenty or so and the other 2 teens. Each chapter covers a topic they all write about based on their own experiences and what the Bible says about it. I homeschool and use this for our Bible time. It is so great with lots of scripture references.
I love this book. It is so good to read with your children, especially if they are having a difficult time learning how to get along and have a good relationship with each other. There are some funny parts and pictures in the book that interest even my youngest children.
I got one of these books as a gift for my sister-in-law (mom of four girls), and ended up buying one for ourselves as well because my daughter (11) picked it up as I was wrapping it, and couldn't put it down. I figure if a pre-teen likes it, it's a good read… for parents and kids alike.
Sent it to my niece to help with her kids' sibling issues. It was very enjoyable for the family to read but in her case it was not the magic bullet. We were all impressed that it was written by the kids as well.
Great book for helping siblings to learn to enjoy each other. We have been reading it nightly. A little above the 5 year old but the 8 year old loves it and ask to read it.
LOVE this book. I've used it as a read aloud twice with my oldest two children. Will begin with the younger two soon. Written by the siblings themselves - this is an EXCELLENT way to give your children a Biblical perspective on family & siblings.
When I first bought this book I was under the impression that it would give me (the parent) tips on how to make both my young daughters become best friends now and into the future. Instead it is a book that I will require them to read as they get older because it is a book more from their perspective. It was a great read, and I still got some really good tips. I am still struggling with how to implement all of the ideas in the book while my girls go to public school.
