I don't always remember how I find new authors, but I search for them especially when starting to read a new genre. Romantic comedy has become my new favorite type of read and Christina Hovland's Mile High Matched series is fantastic.. The first two books are sexy, completely hysterical, but with some details about her characters that will make you feel for them. I only she continues to add books to this series as there are many characters in both these books who should have their own stories told and are somewhat a little off beat. Read the books and fall in love with author and her cast. You will be very glad you did
I've never paid more than $.99 for a book or written a review before, but had to. This was a fun read. I smiled at the picture in my mind of the antics of a Biker Wedding Planner. Loved the characters & how they played off each other. I did get a little confused during a scene or three, but after re-reading the section it all made sense. Might have been my anxiousness to see what happened next. Looking forward to the upcoming book!
This is such a great story of opposites attracting. Brek and Velma are adorable together. A witty book with many laugh-aloud moments. The secondary characters are well-written and the pacing is perfect. A definite must-read. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Such a fun, sexy, hysterical story. The plot twists kept me surprised and I fell in love with Velma and Brek. Their dynamic personalities and quirks played well through the story.
Christina Hovland has taken the most mismatched odd couple and woven them into the perfect love story. There is no way Velma and Brek should work, and yet they do, in all the best ways. They both gave a little and gained everything. Hovland has earned a permanent spot on my auto-buy list.
Almost read this book in one sitting. Was crying when Brek and Velvet finally decided they were happily going to be together. Their personalities were so opposite but still compatible. Loved it!
This is my first read by Christina Hovland and it definitely won't be my last. Fantastic story with very lovable characters. If you like close friends, good family and romance then this book is for you.
He manages a rock band; she manages investment portfolios. They don't match on paper or anywhere else. But still... inexplicably this pair learn they make a great team through wedding plan fiascos, sharing a condo, bad dates, and discovering love has a sense of humor. When he tosses out the rule book, this pair gave me some amazing reading magic.Going Down on One Knee is a humorous, heartwarming, and sexy opposites attract romance. Velma's so buttoned up that she has lists for her lists and has a five year plan that doesn't have room for spontaneous, colorful biker rock band managers who gets an itch from staying in one place or picking up their socks. Brek's friend Dean is marrying Velma's sister and because of his sister's required bed rest for her pregnancy, he's taking over her wedding planning accounts. How tough can it be? He's managed a rowdy rock band on tour. He seems to be the only one to see Velma's pain over her sister marrying the co-worker she was secretly crushing on or that Velma's crazy, inflexible, list-making quirks are funny rather than boring. He gets all heated up over a buttoned up sweater and pearls. But, his stay is temporary and Velma's a long haul gal who wants a guy in a suit with a retirement plan and healthy 401K. Only, Velma's learning that a guy who looks good on paper doesn't make her body and heart zing like Brek's smiles or rides with him on his bike. Will they figure it out before the wedding bells chime and Brek heads back on tour?I spotted this one on Melliane's Between Dreams and Reality blog and the blurb had me eager to give it a try. I thought these extreme opposites who do the wedding planning together would make for a fun read. I was right. Both were engaging people who saw the best in each other when they started working and sharing a condo. I laughed so many times over his casual habits and her stringent ways that were more amusing than acrimonious. They both had reasons for not being anyone's idea of a good bet, but there was sizzling chemistry from the beginning moment right on into the bedroom where a built, tatted Brek got to show that poor woman that she was NOT boring like an old boyfriend said.The romance is set against a circle of friends for them both, their families, and their jobs. I loved meeting Brek's posse who are all a little rough except Dean who's the first of them getting married. It was sweet to see the relationship between Velma and her twin sister and their friend. At first, I thought her sister stole Dean from Velma, but what was there was all in Velma's head and she never hinted or acted on it so there was no stealing men. It was fun that Brek's mom was a professional matchmaker who wasn't opposed to doing pro bono work for her son's match and his sister was a wedding planner.Oh man, this pair had lots of moments- some sweet, some hot, some a hot mess, and some utterly hilarious. It's been a while since I picked up a romcom, but I sure did get into this one which was well-developed for plot and characters and just plain sparkled. I can't wait for the rest of the series. Do yourself a solid and get in on it from the start, here, if a romance full of sweet and spice and a lot of fun moments is your thing.
