I am writing this at three because even though it’s a good book it’s not what I was looking for… I highly recommend SAS certification prep guide for those of you that are like me and was trying to learn SAS. Now if you know SAS this book might be okay. It covers stuff but not to the depth that I needed so if you are a lesson savvy user and have not seen the program you might find some benefit to this book but if you’re trying to learn and I definitely recommend the other book

I drove myself crazy looking for basic information on the syntax and options of the SAS language. The SAS support site is a joke, and most of the SAS publications are ridiculously expensive. I was turned off by the title of this book, and I didn't think it would apply to SAS Enterprise Guide. I was wrong. This was exactly what I needed: a "get your foot in the door" basic reference to SAS programming syntax suitable for people who already have experience with programming. I wish I had bought this book months ago.

I have been using this book since the 3rd edition. This is the easiest reference for beginners, and it is still the one I keep within reach for when I need to recall something regarding 'the basics'. I use SAS basically full time but I can't keep every detail in memory. This is not an advanced reference and I use a number of other resources as well. For students or beginners though, I think this is the book to get you up and running. Really well written for helping the student understand how data step functions work, beginning level macro functions, how to work with variables, dates, how to get your data into SAS, etc.

Great resource. Well-written. I bought it to use as a reference, expecting it to be useful but dry and not readable. I was quite surprised that the authors had managed to make it interesting, and ended up reading nearly the entire thing. Well worth a buy.

Helps with learning SAS, but similar content can be found on the SAS support websites.A separate book should have more real-life examples and applications beyond what we can look up on the web.If you're teaching a class or seminar on SAS, it's handy as a common text. Individual users would be better served using the SAS websites. and other online resources.

I'm currently studying policy analysis and we cover a large portion of the class using SAS. This book really helped me do well in the course and it even taught me other techniques in SAS that the course didn't get to. I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to get good grasp of how the program works.

Very helpful. Would be nice if it had practice data for you to work with. It covers mostly how to read/write data in SAS. Most of the book is on this. There are a couple small sections on statistical procedures. So this is a good companion book when learning to use SAS, but look elsewhere for help with statistical procedures

This book has a lot of knowledge but is short on examples. The problem is compounded because a subject like this can be taught many ways, so the way they do things in the book is unlikely to always match up with how your professor is teaching the class that it corresponds with.On a side note, I'm not a fan of owning this as an eBook, you'd be much better served owning a hard copy, that's more of a personal preference than anything though.
