I have always liked Lois Duncan's books. I can see why she revised them to fit more with our technology, but she didn't have to add bad words. Just because some people say them doesn't mean everyone wants to read/hear them. I try to skip those words, but my brain doesn't like skipping words when I am reading. Other than that it was very interesting.
Lois Duncan was one of the great YA writers. I find I love them all. Believable characters, believable plot that gains tension as the book goes on. Final scene was outstanding.
This is the best of the bunch so far, as I read my way through Duncan's oeuvre, in no particular order. She portrays realistically the nightmarish quality of a life in the witness protection program, from a teenager's point of view. How difficult to sever connections with a prior life, and how easy to accidentally give yourself away.
I read this book in grade school and remembered loving it, so with my new Kindle I decided to download it again. They changed it! All the dated references were changed to make it read like it's current. Instead, it just reads like a cheap remake.
Lois Duncan was an excellent author. Try Summer of Fear and I know What You Did Last Summer.
Bought it for my sisters reading assignment. She said she like the read.
I really enjoyed this one. Lois Duncan is amazing!!! She is by far one of my favorite authors. Great storyteller
I am rereading all Lois Duncan books. This was good but not one of my favorites. Involved the Witness Protection Program but very entertaining and a quick read.
