This book should be read by every student from middle school to high school. I loved it so much I bought it for a fellow teacher to read to her 7th grade students. Each girl's story is told in just three to four pages and includes pictures. It's not meant to make you feel sorry for these girls; it's meant to make you feel like you want to do something to help make a difference for them! Next on my list is to watch the movie. READ THIS BOOK! Be inspired to help change the world for girls who so badly desire an education and the right to determine their own destiny!

This is a great read. I didn’t know a thing about the Cuban revolution in 1959. Read like a novel and very informative and interesting

Lots of good information, well written, lots of action, keeps you interested

Full disclosure: Tony is a friend of mine. But I have other friends who've written books I didn't review here because I didn't love them (the books, not the friends!). Cuba Libre is a fantastic read. Tony asked me to look at it and consider writing a blurb. I figured I'd read a chapter or two, determine whether or not I could recommend it with a clear conscience, and then get back to my own work. Instead, I spent two days with my nose buried in this thing, absorbing the experience of being part of the Cuban revolution, hanging with Fidel and Che and the women they loved, tasting the food they concocted from what they could buy from grateful villagers, smell the tropical rain.... This is a book that pulses and breathes with unexpected insight, humor, and erudition. I can't recommend it highly enough.

For those who want to learn about the most unusual revolution to ever take place in the Western Hemisphere, you simply MUST get this book. The book is a fascinating, tumultuous journey with extraordinary detail, written with great humor as well. Rare archival photos of Che, Fidel and many others add to it and it's so compelling that I went without dinner because I couldn't put it down! If you have any remote interest in the Cuban Revolution you owe it to yourself to get this book. You will be rewarded with story telling that is truly mesmerizing.

What an enjoyable book. Even though I'm in my 50s I knew very little about Fidel, Che, and the Cuban Revolution. The author did a fantastic job telling this incredible story. I find with books like these that I sometimes have trouble keeping track of all of people mentioned, but the author wrote in such a way that each character stood out. Also, I loved the way the author reviewed Cuba’s history in the early part of the book, giving enough detail to set context but not slowing the book down with too much detail.As for the story of Fidel, Che, and the rebels, it was nothing short of astonishing. They were so outnumbered and they made so many mistakes, and yet they prevailed thanks to cleverness, charisma, commitment, and often, luck. I enjoyed learning about Fidel and Che as well as the women who participated in the Revolution. This book is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at an incredible historical event.

Author does a great job of assembling even the minute facts and revealing the lack of any glory in the Cuban Revolt. It sounds like a group of stooges led by a bipolar leader who was terribly unprepared for any task at hand which resulted in the death , capture and torture of many loyal but ignorant followers. A Woodstock gone very wrong. One thing the author reveals is the awesome and misleading power the media offers in deluding the public and it's leaders. So relevant to today's political climate. The book is a telltail reveal it all on corruption that existed on both sides of the Cuban environment of the 50's. Such a terrible waste of life in the desire for money , power and control of the Cuban people.

A page turner of a history book that only Tony Perrottet could write. Cuba Libre fills an important gap in the history of Cuba. Hitherto there had been no accessible histories of the Cuban Revolution save for dry academic tomes. What Mr. Perrottet has given us is an entertaining read, a well-researched history, and an informative book that I devoured.

I think the content is decent, but the synchronization to the Kindle book is terrible. There was no quality control done on this book for the audio to text synchronisation. Whole pages are not synchronized.

Was just a little better than a dictionary. Seemed like a condensed version of or study guide for “Complete Medical Spanish” by Joanna Rios et al.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my grandson who is in college graduating soon as a Registered nurse. He was very pleased receiving this gift.

I have truly enjoyed this audiobook. It has been my experience that this method of learning is actually enjoyable and purposeful. I have been studying the Spanish language for many years, and conjugations are difficult for me. This book has been very clear and easy to understand. A perfect edition to learning the Spanish language and definitely a handy tool to have if you’re in the medical field. I work as a full time caregiver and this will definitely come in handy with my job.The narrator Jessica Del Cid is very clear spoken, and easy to listen to. They not only take you through the various medical terminology but they also give you a refresh on how to put sentences together, basic Spanish, and she give you tips for pronunciation. She also gives helpful tips on how to best consume the language, for instance: books, radio, movies, television, etc. I definitely feel that my Spanish pronunciation has improved, and words are coming more naturally. I am confident in speaking now that my verbs and terms come to me more quickly. The drilling will give you the practice needed and you will find this method extremely helpful. Fantastic product!

This title concludes the story to, investigating the Union Assault on Missionary Ridge and Confederate stand at Ringgold, Georgia from November 24-27, 1863.Unlike the typical guide, this new work published by Savas-Beatie covers the follow up to the Chickamauga Campaign that witnessed the changing nature of Civil War combat and horrific casualties. This outstanding volume of the Emerging Civil War Series takes place in Tennessee and Georgia in 1864, where the Confederate Army of Tennessee led by General Braxton Bragg faced the Union Army of Tennessee led by General William T. Sherman, the Army of the Cumberland led by General George Thomas, Joe Hooker’s forces and Ulysses S. Grant. Upon arriving in Chattanooga, Union General Ulysses S. Grant had two purposes; break up the South’s choke hold on the Union Army of the Cumberland and safeguard General Ambrose Burnside’s ability to control East Tennessee. Though a Union victory, the fighting came at a great expense of life as well as Southern despair. Grant’s triumph showed the North that Federal armies could be victorious. Additionally, Grant became the commander of all forces in the western theater, he changed Union fortunes after a disappointing loss at Chickamauga, saved the Army of the Cumberland and routed Confederate General Bragg. About the Author

Amy E. Robertson is a Seattle native who has long been obsessed with travel. She studied in Boston and Madrid for her bachelor's degree, and upon graduating took a job with an international consulting firm. This is the best travel book that has ever been written about Honduras. You could not possibly find a better guide to this beautiful but complex country. The author, who lived in Honduras for 5 years, does not only give ratings about restaurants and hotels, but she took the time to investigate in depth and understand the history of the place, of the families that have emigrated to Honduras to make their fortunes, and writes about the environment, health and the economy of the country. In fact, this is not only a travel book, but it is a sort of short-history guide about Honduras. It so complete, that it even has a page full of the particular Spanish words used by Hondurans or “hondureñismos”, and the name of Hondurans according to the cities they come from, and an account of the Soccer War, and the names of the real pirates of the Caribbean that used to maraud the north coast of Honduras, and local legends, and the crazy adventure of the American William Walker, who wanted to export slavery to Central America in the XIX century, and, and, and ….. The list of details is endless, and could not fit in this review.In fact the book is so complete that in reality, it is like a mini encyclopedia. For anyone envisaging going to Honduras or for Hondurans living abroad nostalgic about their country and who would like to have a great trip down memory lane, this is the book to read.

By far the best and most comprehensive travel guide for Honduras. While the bulk of this 650 page book is the fabulous work of previous editor Chris Humphrey and his team, in this 6th edition (2013) editor Amy E. Robertson has done an excellent job adding additional content and updating information on transportation, accommodations, restaurants and map detail. She has also added many of her own new photographs. Highly recommend as the best guide for anyone travelling in Honduras.

We were traveling through Guatemala with our Fodor's guidebook and made a detour to Copan in Honduras. We liked it so well that we decided to take a detour and travel around Honduras instead. I wanted a guide book for Honduras too so I downloaded Amy's in spite of the many negative reviews. I have found this book to be very comprehensive and helpful. Her writing is clear and concise and her maps are great. Don't listen to all those negative reviews. They are just sour grapes. And make sure to visit Honduras. What a great country!

We were going to Roatan and had checked out this book at the library and it was the best of all the books we looked at.What a wealth of information. It was the only book that really had a large amount of information on the Bay Islands let alone all of Honduras. This was so helpful to us. It covered everything we wanted to know and needed to know when we got there. I would highly recommend this book. I felt like I knew so much when we arrived, it has a wealth of information that will help you prepare and enjoy your trip.

I read it from cover to cover. I can't comment if the information is correct since I have not visited Honduras! However I did see many good travel ideas particularly for the bay Islands and north coast! I have had good experiences with Moon Guide when visiting Panamá I believe this guide have the same high quality.

We got this book for our parents that live in Honduras and lead work teams. This book will be helpful in taking the groups around the country, finding new places to eat and new places to stay in. This book is the best out there.

Loads of great information. Everything that we needed.

Don't waste your money on this disorganized book. Little useful information.
